Winter is coming

Almost three months have passed since the semester begin, it means the first project of the semester is done! :D I haven't really talked about the project, so I will give a brief explanation of what is it about. The project is about prefabricated architecture, we built a very small house with a size of 150m² for a village in Hubei, China. The main focus is how are we going to prefabricated everything and ship it to the site to be assembled. We are required to use PV panels and draw a very detail section which is a real painful job to do! A good thing of involving in the project is, we are going to attend the Solar Decathlon competition next year, best works will be taken into consideration and redesigned for the competition (for those who wonder what is solar decathlon, check it out here http://www.solardecathlon.gov/). Finally I decided to use some containers to solve the prefabricated topic, along with the light steel structure frame, you guys can check it out for more detail at the architecture page, project 14!

By the way here is a preview of the painful section I told u about!

If by any chance you guys are wondering how do I create this image, here it is:

Step 1, Sketchup job Cut your model using the section plane and set up the view point (make sure you have a good furniture), export it to first '2D graphics AutoCAD', and then export it to the 'section slice'. Step 2, AutoCAD job Work with all the details of the wall, insulation, parapet, etc from the file 'section slice', clean your model and put hatching on the file '2D graphics AutoCAD', join both of them together and put the text! Step 3, Photoshop job

Adding people, trees and some special hatching.

Yes as easy at it sounds and it creates a great image both technically and visually! It seems that the image may seem a little bit plain without color, but I wanted to focus more on the technic instead of the graphic so I decided to desaturate it. I would like to know if you guys have another way to do detail perspective section, and stay warm people, winter is coming!
